If the only tassel-adorned accessory you own right now is your graduation cap, it’s time to update your wardrobe! Channeling a multitude of styles, from the Wild West to the Roaring Twenties, from preppy fashion to fetish gear, fringe benefits are a big hit this season—and with good reason. A solo tassel, or a pair of them, instantly gives a classic handbag or piece of jewelry a richer, more luxurious feel. Read on to see where we’ve spotted fashionable fringe lately, and shop our roundup of tasseled must-haves!

On The Runway & Red Carpet
First, Salvatore Ferragamo’s Massimiliano Giornetti sneaked subtle tassels—and plenty of other stunning details—into the Tokara Lace Velvet Open Toe Pumps ($1336) for F/W 12. The elegant shoes perfectly complemented the series of floaty, romantic dresses that came down the runway. Then just last month, model Alexandra Richards was photographed in a Gatsby-esque look while attending the Chanel party celebrating “The Little Black Jacket” exhibition in New York. Her beaded Chanel dress from S/S 11 and Alexander Wang Liya Pumps ($485) in Black are a sophisticated pairing, but it’s her dangling vintage earrings and tassel purse that give her outfit its Jazz Age appeal!

On The Market
1. Nine West Voyage Booties ($129) in Black Suede
Black ankle booties don’t look so basic with a couple of Western-inspired details, like decorative stitching and a fringed zipper closure. Pair these shoes with your favorite denim button-down and leather skirt, then add a blazer and opaque tights come fall.

2. Mulberry Lily With Tassels ($1200) in Black Forest Soft Matte
Mulberry works tassels into many of its coveted accessories, including keychains and lace-up flats, but we love how the iconic British brand updated their classic Lily bag with twin tassels and gold rivets. The investment-worthy purse also comes in a rich bordeaux color, one of the hottest shades for fall!

3. Tory Burch Perez Tassel Necklace ($225)
Add a little retro charm to your look with Tory Burch’s necklace; it’s got a single resin bead attached to a luxe gold tassel and lends any outfit a touch of glamour! Toss it on over a simple blouse or wear it with a silky black evening dress.

4. Cobra Society Moses Cigarette Top Fringe Pouchette ($595) in Black Kid Leather
Ready to make a tremendous tassel statement? Consider Cobra Society’s outstanding pouchette. It comes with a cluster of studded fringe that is sure to garner compliments. Sling this purse over your shoulder with a t-shirt and jeans, or incorporate it into a more feminine look for uptown/downtown contrast.

5. Mango Fringed Messenger Handbag ($120)
If you prefer a carryall that’s more practical for everyday use, Mango’s leather messenger bag is a stellar combo of fashion and function. It’s well-sized and comes in a neutral, goes-with anything hue. But fun fringe and a pair of swingy tassels also give it a covetable on-trend vibe!

6. Dieppa Restrepo Gaston Fluorescent Tassel Loafers ($395)
Colombian designers Andrea Dieppa and Elisa Restrepo, known for their classic unisex footwear, teamed up with Opening Ceremony to create these exclusive shoes. Their signature Gaston loafers are reworked in striking animal print and come with bright orange tassels.

7. BCBGeneration Chain-Wrap Bracelet With Tassel ($16)
This gold chain bracelet is ideal for trendsetters who fancy delicate jewelry over statement-making trinkets. However, it’s still a visually intriguing piece: the bracelet wraps twice around your wrist and the solitary black tassel lends a bit of ’20s flapper charm.

8. Oscar de la Renta Beaded Tassel Clip Earrings ($395)
Time to jump on the bold earrings bandwagon! We adore Oscar de la Renta’s long beaded pair, especially since they’re clip-ons and won’t distress your lobes. Make sure to wear them with a pretty updo, the better to showcase those glittering green tassels!

9. Coach Tristen Heels ($228) in Bisque/Midnight
Mix a little bit of color-blocking with a pair of tassels, and you’ve got Coach’s chic take on spectator shoes! These daytime heels are quite versatile; the nude, red, and navy color palette is punctuated with gold hardware and would look stylish with a summery dress or tailored trousers.—Tiffany Tse
